Video games have been the source of countless fandoms over the years, and we’re celebrating them at FanQuest with four console game tournaments! All game tournaments are free to enter for all FanQuest attendees, with novice and expert skill levels and awesome prizes to be won!
The Retro Detective Challenge
A spin of the wheel dictates which original NES game you’ll play in a head-to-head challenge. The rules are simple: winner moves on, loser doesn’t (but can give it another go if they want!) It’s a different game every time! These games are the foundation of the video game industry, and they’re just as challenging and fun as they were 30 years ago. Brought to you by the Retro Detective, your source of vintage consoles and games in the FanQuest Bazaar.
Mario Kart Double Dash
Regarded by many gamers to be the best of the series, this classic GameCube title is the only Mario Kart game to feature cooperative gameplay. You and a friend will compete against other teams of two for a chance to win the ultimate Mario Kart trophy!
Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Our guest D.C. Douglas provides the voice of Resident Evil villain Albert Wesker in this tournament-fighting favourite, so it only seems fitting that we hold a FanQuest MvC3 tournament in his honour! Who knows, maybe D.C. will stop by the gaming area to take on challengers as his best-known video game character!
Star Wars: Battlefront
Blame Society Films’ Matt Sloan is the voice of Darth Vader in this visually stunning third person action shooter. You’ll face off against three other players on a randomly-selected map. Whoever scores the highest moves on, simple as that!
There is no pre-registration for FanQuest gaming tournaments, you must register in person at FanQuest – first come, first serve. Participants must be in the gaming area when their name is called in order to play. Anyone who is not there will be moved to the bottom of the list. For more information on our gaming tournaments, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We haven’t forgotten about the “OG” gamers out there! FanQuest will have a tabletop games area as well, where game creators will be setting up and playing games. Attendees are also welcome to set up their own games, or games that they purchased at FanQuest and play right then and there! Stop by and check out what’s happening in the gaming area.
